EDIT: I'm starting to suspect that the updated version of lighttpd/1.4.24 is causing the crashes. Anyone has the latest version of lighttpd working on his white light?

I want to run netatalk on my World Edition (blue rings).
Avahi needs dbus. But when I tried to run dbus I see:

1. /opt/etc/init.d/S20dbus start

Starting system message bus: /opt/bin/dbus-daemon: can't resolve symbol 'environ'

I've tried UShare (runs OK, but TV doesn't recognise server), and thought about Twonky but saw that some were having success with miniDLNA.

I've installed this via ipkg, and fiddled with the config file, but when I try to run it (/opt/sbin/minidlna) it generates a "segmentation fault" - no other indication of what the error is, or what's causing it.

Any others tried this? Any idea what's going wrong or how I find out?

I've installed successfully the ipkg program and use it to download some packages in order to install the fuppes DLNA server.
However, it seems that the installed libraries are not "visible" to the configure script and then I'm a bit stuck.
Here are the tracks I've followed.

1. LD : I've checked the ldconfig, so my /opt/lib is registred here.
2. /lib : I've made some links between /lib and /opt/lib.
3. I've also tried to set the directory / path directly in the configure script.

Any kind of help will be greatful.

What have I done? I am on a Rlue Ring MBWE I tried to re-load optware because nano wasn't running. (I didn't get these errors the first time) Now I get this error … please help

I did a find / -name libc.so.6 and the file was not found ??? Is that the problem? … where can I get that file? … what could have happened to it?

I am able to mount a nfs resource directory in this way:

 sudo mount -t nfs 192.168.1.3:/nfs/folder /mnt/mybook 

Where 192.168.1.3 is the IP assigned in a static way from my ROUTER.

Of course I would like mount it using a dynamic dns and instead of 192.168.1.3 I would like mount it from anywhere using the an hostname.

I have already register an hostname to dyndns.org and I am able to SSH and FTP this host name from anywhere.

But I am still not able to run something like:

 mount -t nfs myhost.dyndns.info:/nfs/folder /mnt/mybook 

On my router I have enabled the port forwarding for the port
i) 22 SSH
ii) 21 FTP
iii) 2049 NFSD

Somebody has some idea on how it is possible make this work:

 mount -t nfs myhost.dyndns.info:/nfs/folder /mnt/mybook

I think the default configuration is too big for MB. How can I to reduce that? What values are good, selon you think?

I'm a complete noob to Linux and the world of optware running on My Book World Edition (White Light), but am loving it.

Twonkymedia 4.4.4 is not quite working as I would like. I stream to a PS3 and mainly create m2ts files as this would appear to be the most convenient container that holds h264 video (>4.1 main profile) and AC3. Twonymedia does not handle the time of the file and sees them as near infinite. While it streams for a straightforward play, skipping does not work well at all. TVersity running on my PC does a great job for 95%+ of my files, but why have my PC running if I don't need to.

I have just installed MiniDLNA with no problems. I edited minidlna.conf and added /shares/Public/Videos as the media directory (not preceded with a 'V') and started minidlna. I keep all my videos in subdirectories of Videos. Presto, straight into the PS3.

However there are no 'titles to display' I tried copying files to the Videos directory and even creating a Video directory but to no avail.

Does anyone have any tips on having MiniDLNA find the video files and stream to PS3. I feel I'm so close and just missing a final trick here. Some questions I have include:

• Do I need to stop Twonkymedia?
• Do I need to be explicit about the V prefix to the media directory?
• Do I need to specify some file types and link them to a decoding engine (I think I read this in a post somewhere)?
