I have a problem.
I try to install a Epson printer following this tutorial on this wiki but I stop in step "Find new printer" because I not found anything.
If typed "lsusb" this return:

Bus 001 Device 002: ID 04b8:0007 Seiko Epson Corp.

How I can add my printer??
I trying add manually but not print because the URL for printer is /dev/lp and I think that it should be USB:\//EPSON…, right?
Just can setup printer with this configuration (adding it manually) seen from cupsd web access:

EPSON_A5 "Filter "commandtoepson" for printer "EPSON_A5" not available: No such file or directory"
Description: Impresora EPSON Color DIN A5

i got my mybook whitelight yesterday and tried all the evening to get webdav working (i installed the latest firmware) . has anyways got it working with the latest firmware? lighttpd is running and it seems to load the webdav modules, but i cant log in.
i havent been able to find the htdigest (has it ever been on the mybook?) and tried it with plain authentification. but even there it said wrong password (i created it with htpasswd like 3 times).

i cant post more information at the moment, cause i'm at work.

but maybe anyone has an idea what the problem could be.

I have two computers running 10.6.2, both backing up to a Western Digital World Book 1TB, running the latest firmware, using Time Machine.
This device supports Time Machine according to WD's web page.

One computer, within 24 hours of the initial backup, starts to backup large amounts of files, approx. 80Gb.
There is no way that I have made these amounts of changes, all prior backups are what I regard as typical
for the work I do, max 300Mb.

Excludes on this machine appear to be ignored.

The other computer backs up correctly.

Also, using an USB disk on the machine that makes big backups, the problem is not there, so its
one machine using the network drive, that has this problem.

Any thoughts?

A few days ago I got my first World Edition with 1TB. I upgraded to the latest firmware - everythings´s fine. I am almost happy with it - I just would like to enter several URLs into the download manager at once. Let´s say I want to add 10 URLs from rapidshare which should download during the day. How I can I do this without change very much at the My Book? I found a hack here but it was for the Blue Rings version.

A Tip, I saw people saying they are getting SSH attacks, I was too like everybody else, because they scan DNS sites for the port 22… so If you want to avoid getting those attacks just change your router port fowarding to something else from outside… like 2200 for example (that is not mine :D ) and I never got an attack again.

While sliding the pcb board to unconnect it from the serial ata hard disk i have accidentaly broken the soldering of one capacitor (this one is now missing, it is really tiny and it is somewhere on the floor), can anyone send me some pictures of the board to try to recover the value of the lost capacitor? I can't find a simple script, to clone a healthy running MyBook-HDD to an external USB HDD as bootable backup. (live backup of disk)

I think it will do a simple dd if=/dev/sda of=/dev/sdc .
How to resolve the problem, that dd copying must be done on unmounted disks/partitions?
It's better to use rsync to copy a mounted partion?
How I can use another drive size for sda4 ?

I've bought a new My Book World II (New Edition , with white Light) recently (half a week ago) and installed it properly with NZBget, HTTP Server & CinedB Plugins. SSH was also activated to use that features. I created a STRIPE (RAID1) VOlume so i have 4,0 TB (exactly 3.6 TB) harddisk space.
Yesterday I tried to connect to my drive and nothing happened. I thought it to be in sleep mode or something similar, but nevertheless with the power on key it "booted up". However I still could not get any response from the drive - neither my router, nor my putty ssh connection works or shows any sign of it. Tried to soft-reset, but it stays with light turned on. The Network interface card blinks green.

What can I do to gain access again?

Does anybody have an idea how I can work around this?
- Maybe using the update mechanism?
- copying an 'su' binary and execute that?

Is there any backdoor to upload/overwrite files in /etc ?
Any file which is writeable for normal users and executed during boot?

Any help is very, very welcome!

since I have the updated Twonky server (5.1) my MBWE is never in sleep mode ! I have deactivated MioNet service but it's the same…

And my audio files directory is ALWAYS scanned ! I have deactivated that too.

It's a bug or I have forgot something ?

My MBWE is connected to a router (US Robotics) connected to my LiveBox (I'm in France).

I'm using linux on my laptop. I can mount all my directories on my system… except USB behind MBWE.

On my WinBox I have ALL my MBWE directories… except my OWN directory (but it could be another post).

How does I have to configure my etc/fstab on my LinBox (Ubuntu 9.10) ?

I want to connect the mybook to a VPN server for downloading with transmission (I have an account for this VPN server which work fine on my mac - configuration with only three click ;-) ).

But it's seems to be more complicated on mybook !

So I've installed vpnc with ipkg installer and I got some problems… Maybe some people can help me ?

VPNC is installed in /opt/sbin/vpnc/ and config/script files are in /opt/bin/vpnc/
