Hey, that didn't work.
My mybook didn't got connection to the internet, but I've bought myself a router, so now it does ^^

Thanx for the help anyways.
Maybe others have the same problem (though I doubt it), so maybe this is a help for them.

Sorry for the delay.

If you've not already managed it… as you now have sharing on, the MBWE should now have access to the internet via your pc, so it should be able to do the update.

Ok, let me see if I have this correctly….

MBWE>PC(ethernet1) | PC(ethernet2)>(some kind of modem/internet connection) ???

I don't know about linux (I guess it can do the following somehow) but if you're using win2000, XP, Vista then within the network properties you can set "internet connection sharing" on the PC(ethernet2) device. This then turns your pc into a kind of router/dns machine between the internet and your local network. I used to do this on my old cable connection as the "router/modem" only had one ethernet port.

Only way I could see to do it would be to do the hack that tricks the mybook into flashing another firmware, tutorial is on the site under first steps, but instead of using the url they said, you could put the files on your pc and tell it to look there.

This would require you to install a webserver on the pc and get theneeded files on it too.

Well you could setup NAT on the computer so the Mybook and get online, this would allow you to download the firmware.
As far as an offline install, that I have not done, though it prolly does exist.

Hey, I'm new to this site, but I've been looking around on this topic, but I haven't found a single thing about it.
My Mybook world is connected to my pc's network card, and my pc to the internet on an other network card. (I have 2 ethernet connections)
I only have a switch without DNS server, so I can't connect my MyBook to my switch and then go to the webinterface.
Would it be possible to download the firmware while my mybook is connected to my pc?

Thanks.
