Hello

I have the same problem with my Squeezebox Radio 7.7.2.

Just edit the version number of my Squeezecenter from 7.3.3 to 7.7.2. The Number should not be higher than the Squeezebox Radio. Otherwise, the Radio "need" an update.

You find the version number in
/opt/share/squeezecenter/slimserver.pl
at Line 215
our $VERSION = '7.7.2';

Have fun!

The IP address of the server, in the Logitech eEdia Server web control panel can be changed in the main page, on the left side, below My music and etc. in the Extras menu there is a menu point called music source. There I have selected the WDMBWE as the server.

I got it running again, this time I disabled mysqueezebox.com integration, hopefully it will work also after unplugging :)

Other interesting stuff:

The web interface is on port 9001, probably because i did not reconfugre twnoky, but i think I stopped it, I am not a linux guru

After plugging out the player and plugging it back in, it again says that the server need to be updated.

Hi!
Sqeezebox RADIO FW v7.7 + Squeezecenter 7.3 on WD MBWE White WORKS!

I just bought my Squeezebox Radio. I did averything as described earlier, Installed sqeezeboxcenter 7.3 on my MBWE and created the slimserver user and user group as described. I was disappointed to see that the Sqeezebox radio did not want to connect to the server, with the error message 'Server need to be upgraded'.

The connection to the IP address of my MBWE was saved in the list. I left the server running on my MBWE.

I added another IP address for a remote library, my Laptops IP, running Logitech Media Center 7.7

On my laptop, using the browser interface, 127.0.0.1:9000, I played around with the web interface.

In the settings menu, where the remote library are specified, in the browser window, there where both connections (my laptop's IP and my MBWE's IP).

Just out of curiosity I tried to change the remote library to the IP address of my MBWE.

After saving the settings, the web interface lodaed from the IP of the MBWE. The sqeezebox went silent, the screen on the Sqeezebox changed to the firmware update menu (not the update screen, the update manu, where I could select help on update and diagnostics). No other function was accessible for 1-2 min. After which a new menu appeard, Update to firmware 7.7, or something like that, I did not activate it.

The web interface in the browser slowly loaded, I selected music library on the MBWE, it scanned it slowly.

The Sqeezebox lost all its settings (name and the two favorite internet radio stations i set up), and as it seems to me the internet radio menu changed a bit (although I am not sure of this, I had it for 4 hours).

The info screen on the squeezebox still says that it has firmware 7.7

Bottom line: IT WORKS!

Try it and let me know.

Hello,

First of all thanks a lot for this great contribution to us: Squeezebox users…

A couple of (related) questions:

1/ Does anyone know if this thread would apply to the Single-disk WDMBWE (white light) ? I think I'm gonna give it a try…

2/ Just curious, has anyone noticed any substantial performance increase, of Squeezecenter that is, by disabling TwonkyMedia?

Thanks in advance!

currently there is no optware package for the new squeezebox server (thats v 7.5) only for squeezecenter. I've been thinking about trying to get 7.5 working form the source but my experience so far has been that its a little too slow on MBW so I'm looking at other options. 7.6 is supposed to have some performance improvements however so I might look at it then.

Many thanks jovapo .

Took me only a couple of hours. (haven´t touched anything unix like in years. Enabled SSH and downloaded and installed a SSH terminal ( PUTTY) and an editor, connected to the Mybook WE II and followed your instructions. Worked right away. A bit slow, particular with the artwork but works fine.

Only issue is that the version of Squeezecenter on optware is 7.3.3. My Squeezebox Duet works fine but my newer Squeezebox radio won´t connect and complains that the Server software need to be updated.

Any idea how to install a newer version of Squeezecenter on the Mybook?

Many thanks

Ok It looks like I got it working. The issue was that squeezecenter needs to run under the user slimserver and that user didn't have the correct permissions set up. Here's a script that should fix all the issues:

/opt/bin/ipkg update /opt/bin/ipkg install squeezecenter addgroup slimserver adduser -h /home/slimserver/ -G slimserver slimserver mkdir /home chmod 777 /home mkdir /home/slimserver/ chown slimserver:slimserver /home/slimserver/ mkdir /home/slimserver/cache/ chown slimserver:slimserver /home/slimserver/cache/ mkdir /home/slimserver/prefs/ chown slimserver:slimserver /home/slimserver/prefs/ mkdir /home/slimserver/prefs/plugin/ chown slimserver:slimserver /home/slimserver/prefs/plugin/ mkdir /opt/share/squeezecenter/Logs/ chown slimserver:slimserver /opt/share/squeezecenter/Logs/ echo > /home/slimserver/squeezecenter.log chown slimserver:slimserver /home/slimserver/squeezecenter.log rm /home/slimserver/squeezecenter.pid /opt/etc/init.d/S99squeezecenter start

I wouldn't worry if it says the user name already exists or the folder already exists. I just wasn't sure exactly what needed to be created as my box now has been reconfigured a number of times now. One this that needs to happen for sure is chmod 777 /home. If that doesn't happen squeezecneter wasn't able to create any files in the child directories which seems odd. Maybe there's a better way but I couldn't find one.

Does any one know how to make a tutorial page for this? It might be useful.

As for how it runs its not too bad. I compared it to running it on my 1.2GHz via box and while its slower its still kinda slow on my other box.

Also note that it needs to run on port 9001 since Twonky runs on 9000.

I'm trying to get the squeezecenter package working on my MBW II (the white light one). I've read all the posts I could find and have gathered:

-If I can get it working it will probably be slow
-While some have gotten the slimserver package working it doesn't seem like anyone has gotten squeezecenter working

Here's what I've tried:

First I installed squeezecenter:

# ipkg install squeezecenter

that seems to install squeezecenter and all of its components.

I then tried the obvious:

# /opt/etc/init.d/S99squeezecenter start

which appears to work, with an output of:

Starting SlimServerSlimserver daemon started OK. PID is 6930.

. When I check the status right after sometimes it will say that its running but it will eventually quit and I'll get:

# /opt/etc/init.d/S99squeezecenter status Checking for SlimServer: not running - last PID 6930)

I looked at the log file and only found a problem with the IPDetect.pm file, but that seems to be benign as it still returns the proper ip address:

Use of uninitialized value $proto in getprotobynumber at /opt/share/squeezecenter/Slim/Utils/IPDetect.pm line 76. Use of uninitialized value $proto in socket at /opt/share/squeezecenter/Slim/Utils/IPDetect.pm line 90.

I did also try removing the AutoCommits as this forum suggested (http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=62842) with this script, but it didn't seem to do anything.

#! /opt/bin/bash chmod 644 /opt/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.10.0/arm-linux/DBI.pm cd /opt/share/slimserver if [ ! -f /opt/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.10.0/arm-linux/DBI.pm.orig ] then cp /opt/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.10.0/arm-linux/DBI.pm /opt/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.10.0/arm-linux/DBI.pm.orig /opt/bin/sed -e '/dbh->STORE.*AutoCommit.*0/s/^/#/' /opt/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.10.0/arm-linux/DBI.pm fi if [ ! -f CPAN/DBI.pm.orig ] then cp CPAN/DBI.pm CPAN/DBI.pm.orig /opt/bin/sed -e '/dbh->STORE.*AutoCommit.*0/s/^/#/' CPAN/DBI.pm fi if [ ! -f scanner.pl.orig ] then cp scanner.pl scanner.pl.orig /opt/bin/sed -i.orig -e "/Slim::Schema->storage->dbh->{'AutoCommit'} = 0/s/^/#/" scanner.pl fi if [ ! -f Slim/Schema/Playlist.pm.orig ] then cp Slim/Schema/Playlist.pm Slim/Schema/Playlist.pm.orig /opt/bin/sed -i.orig -e "/Slim::Schema->storage->dbh->{'AutoCommit'} = 0/s/^/#/" Slim/Schema/Playlist.pm fi if [ ! -f Slim/Music/Import.pm.orig ] then cp Slim/Music/Import.pm Slim/Music/Import.pm.orig /opt/bin/sed -i.orig -e "/Slim::Schema->storage->dbh->{'AutoCommit'} = 0/s/^/#/" Slim/Music/Import.pm fi

I've played with this for quite a while and can't figure out how to debug this further. Does anyone have any tips?
