Can Anyone Please give me a straight forward step by step tutorial on setting up the partitions and getting my MBWE II up and running. I've installed linux downloaded the images and everything else but ive tried all of your guys tutorials and you keep forgetting most people are noobs to linux. can anyone help
What is your Problem? Wich OS are you running? have you looked in the Rescue Procedure? Any more of Information?
Well i'm using pc linux 2008 and using the command console within that to try and get my MBWE II restoreed back to normal however to some who is not used to linux it pretty dam confusing for example. my drive has been completely wiped noting on it, everytime i go to set up The partitions the first problem arises. You get the following screen below.
Disk /dev/sdb: 500.1 GB, 500107862016 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 60801 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes
Disk identifier: 0x00007c00
however the problem i have got i know exactly what partition sizes i need ie.
sdb1 ext3fs 2.80 GiB
sdb2 swap (v1) 101.98 MiB
sdb3 ext3fs 964.84 MiB
sdb4 ext3fs 461.89 GiB
but converting these gb and mb in to bytes to enter in the console instead has got me lost so if anyone could give me a hand cause seriously i'm getting to a stage where i'm just going to scrap it or send it to WD to get repaired
I've downloaded the rescue files and a complete backup image of the 500 gb drive. do i copy these to my pen drive? and what is the correct commands to create and copy these files to my MBWE II. remember i'm pretty much a noob to using the console in linux.
Did you read trought the How-TO? I dont think so, otherwise you would have noticed some commands there. Yes you have to copy the files to a USB Stick if you running a live-cd,
All the Commands you need are ther in the How to, just follow it from the Beginning, dont hurry , do one step after another…
ok got my friend to come round who uses linux more than i. done everything on the tutorials now My MBWEII powers up blue lights, fan kicks off after a few minutes, great or so you might think now after waiting for about 4 minutes i install mionet and it cant find the MBWEII, however when i go to my browser and type mybookworld it brings me in to the my book but it says there is no storage on it at all. anyone know how to fix this or have i done something wrong somewhere
yeah you where right i forgot to write the partitions to disk. new problem however when i log into the my book through mybookworld it says my drive b has failed now i get that because my friend wiped both drives but when i go to format the drive i get Error Code:: e16002 please choose type. so i went to change the type to spanned storage linear but on the the screen it has 2 check boxes and a cancel button, no matter what i check and try to format the drive again it doesn't change type and gives me the same Error Code:: e16002. has anyone had this & a how to fix would be great.
I have just finish the recovery procedure as described. It vent god and I can get in touch With it again. The only complaint is that the MBWE is very, very slow and it is not every time I can get in contact. I came out off the recovery procedure with version 01.01.18 and it is not able to run 'Upgrade the System Firmware'. It lookalike but nothing happen.
There is no longer blue light on the front and the ‘Stop and Start’ button is out of order.
Is there a solution for my problems?
