I have recently enabled SSH and Firmware: 02.00.18. The issue is that I cannot get to my public drive. I have a feeling that it has to do with it no longer being mounted, but I'm so new to command line that I cannot confirm this. Could someone please help me with the troubleshooting of this?
How are you trying to "get to" your PUBLIC share? Have you rebooted? Did you use the web interface to create a user? Has this worked before? What have you changed since then?
I'm guessing you mean Windows Share/CIFS/Samba (These are equivalent) which in Windows should be \\ip-of-your-nas\PUBLIC.
You should see if your /shares/internal/PUBLIC folder is present, intact, and with the correct permissions:
[root@MyBookWorld ~]# ls -al /shares/internal total 48 drwxr-xr-x 8 root root 4096 Mar 24 2008 . drwxr-xr-x 4 root root 4096 Mar 26 2007 .. drwx------ 2 root root 4096 Nov 30 2006 .senvidData drwxrwxr-x 7 root www-data 4096 Dec 15 01:47 PUBLIC drwx------ 2 root root 16384 May 21 2002 lost+found
use the command mount to see what is mounted. I don't think this is where your trouble is coming from.
You should see the line:
/dev/md4 on /shares/internal type ext3 (rw,noatime,data=ordered)
included to show that your internal shares are mounted.
possibly more useful is to check to see that your samba daemon is sharing the correct folder:
[root@MyBookWorld /]# cat /var/oxsemi/shares.inc [PUBLIC] path=/shares/internal/PUBLIC force user=www-data valid users=www-data write list=www-data guest ok=Yes
Also look to see if your samba daemon is running:
[root@MyBookWorld oxsemi]# ps -aef |grep smbd root 12975 5900 0 Dec22 ? 00:00:00 smbd -s/var/oxsemi/smb.conf -l/var/log -d0 root 12976 5900 0 Dec22 ? 00:00:00 smbd -s/var/oxsemi/smb.conf -l/var/log -d0 root 12977 5900 0 Dec22 ? 00:00:09 smbd -s/var/oxsemi/smb.conf -l/var/log -d0 root 14904 14824 0 01:59 pts/0 00:00:00 grep smbd
