I received as a gift my WD MyBook World edition six month ago, I convinced myself to hack it as described in this comunity.
But if i try to update my firmware the web interface shows a blank screen, so also if I try to update the firmware with the hacked version I can't do it.
All the functionalities of the web interface work correctly but if try to go to the page http:"my wdmbwe ip"/auth/firmware_upgrade.pl the browser shows a blank page, I tried to use and firefox or explorer, but both shows a blank screen.
Obviously also if I go to the page http://"my wdmbwe ip"/auth/firmware_upgrade.pl?fwserver=mybook1.110mb.com/firmware.php the web interface shows a blank page.
What is the problem? How can I solve it?
Thank you, bye ;-)
Try to reboot and go to:
Just done, blank page as always!!
Actually the firmware on mybook is the version 02.00.15.
It seems that there is a problem on the web interface!
Cache on browser empty? ( ???? no more ideas… )
I have the same problem here. I also tried with Chrome but got the same result. Would it be of any use reloading "firmware_upgrade.pl" file? If so, where can i get a good one?
It seems that more and more MyBooks have this behaviour.
Which firmware version does your MyBook have, guys?
Mine has 02.00.18, or so it says
From new i enabled SSH, installed optware, nano, cups, webserver and accessbook.
I tried stopping CUPS and lightpd, but nothing happened.
02.00.18 and 02.00.18 usually work with firmware update. Very strange.
You can try to use a sniffer on your LAN, like the best (and Italian) ettercap, to see which kind of HTTP packets your MyBook sends and receives to/from the default gateway.
For example: ettercap -T -M arp:remote /<NAS IP>/ /192.168.0.1/ but see man.
(For italian speaking a guide of mine: http://sicurezza.html.it/articoli/leggi/2455/sniffing-pratico-in-una-lan/)
How can I enable SSH if my Mybook shows a blank screen on update page of web interface?
Does exist an alternative method?
Please help me…
I also have the same problem. If someone could share with us the firmware_upgrade.pl file along with the md5 checksum, then maybe we can download the correct .pl file and install it to the correct location.
BTW, where is the firmware_upgrade.pl file ? is it in /etc/ folder ?
