First of all, I have firmware version 2.00.15. I don't know if WD new firmware 2.00.18 had resolved this issue or not.
About the time and date, I notice that it does not keep current but just pretty much saved. I am wondering if this is because there is no battery in the MB like a real computer does to keep some things on running mode. Although, there is somewhat fix to resolve this. But it looks like that fix is really temporary and could be a problem for those who does not keep their mybook on 24/7.
I notice that whenever I shutdown the mybook and boot it in the morning for usage, the time is frozen from the point where I shut down. The Mybook seems to pickup that time when it boots up in the morning, which results in a wrong time and date.
Although, the fix would pull up a time from a internet server of choice and also given a time where the user can program the time to update itself. But this is merely for users who have their mybook on all the time.
Also, I found that if you have your mybook on 24/7 and having the time corrected beforehand, the probably of it being needed for a adjustment is minimal. Well, of course if there is a problem with the time counter going too fast or too slow, but I don't think there is such reports of that yet.
1. Keep the function of the user selected time to update.
2. Include a auto update whenever a boot up or reboot is made to the mybook. <- helpful implementation.
3. Include a file or help on the internet server location to pull up time data.
** Unfortunately, I am no linux guru or heck even come near of writing any codes if that matters. Although I would like to, perhaps that way I can acutally provide more changes. But as of now, all I can do is suggest and perhaps someone can make the codes for it.
