I've tried again to get it to read the .rtorrent.rc file, to no avail. I've downloaded one thats supposed to be for 0.8.4, but there's not much difference apart from the schedule stuff.
cbrom, rtorrent version 0.8.4 reads ratio settings differently. Versions before 0.8.4 use these
schedule = ratio,30,60,stop_on_ratio=200
while version 0.8.4 uses these
Just comment out the old settings and put the new settings in and rtorrent 0.8.4 should be able to read it.
The ratio handling changes are documented here
The .rtorrent.rc file is in the home directory of the user running it. So if you run it as root, it should be in
To see it, use
when you're in /root since it's a hidden file.
I'm interested in rtorrent too because of its small foot print, good download handling and efficiency. I'd love to reproduce your results, so a vmware image capable of cross compiling libtorrent and rtorrent would be greatly appreciated (hint hint).
Would love to help out in any way I can too.
EDIT: I've just run your rtorrent binary. It ran OK, but it wasn't aware that .rtorrent.rc was in the home directory. Perhaps it's expecting it somewhere else because of path changes in the source code?
