thanks to the wiki documentation and hand on help om this forum, i've been successfully able to set up lighthttp AccessBook, phpXplorer and so on.
on my internal test i would configure MBWE via its internal ip like http://192.168.10.103 at each respective ports and subfolders.
once completed, i also configured port forwarding on my router, so that when a call is made to my routers IP, like http://188.8.131.52 (not real IP) it would also route the traffic based on th port specified :XXXX, like 80, 8080, 3210, etc.
so i can see that the forwarding is correct.
however if i try to access trhe same ip:ports while else where, where at work at school or at the library, i cannot access anything that has to do with MBWE.
i believe that the router is configured correctly, because i also run a basic apache webserver on a desktop that is connected to the same LAN, but on a different IP.
i have even tried to do a simple substitution of the original config for that website, by switching it to MBWE's ip, to no avail. that is, it all works, but only if i'm accessing it while on the inside of the LAN, but calling the 'outsides' ip of the router.
out of all devices i have using the router/switch as connection point, only MBWE behaves this way.
if i point applicable ports to fwd to either of the two PCs i have, and run www.grc.com test against it, it will correctly show all applicable ports as open, if i run the same test agains MBWE's ip they are all listed as stealth.
does anyone have any idea as to why port fwd would work internally through the extrenal IP, but not when accessing it through the internet?
