Unable to access Transmission/empty settings.json. file

I just installed the Transmission as described in http://mybookworld.wikidot.com/transmission, however /root/.config/transmission-daemon/settings.json. file is empty and I get Unauthorized IP Address error.

I tried to copy lines:
"rpc-access-control-list": "127.0.0.*,192.168.1.*",
"rpc-whitelist": "127.0.0.1,192.168.1.*",
and modify them with my IP, however it didn't help…

Hmm, I'm getting this too, installed fine (to my eyes), but an empty file. I've tried:-

- Expanding range to 192.168.*.*

- Killing and restarting transmission (found that tip in another post)

But nothing.

Is it worth trying to delete the json file and recreate it? To me it feels like we've gone created the json file in the wrong place (IE somewhere that transmission isn't looking for it) which explains a.) why it's empty and b.) why it's not accepting a range…

EDIT: Ok a bit of a linux newbie here, but… I DID create a file, a json. rather than the normal json (no dot). I browsed to the directory and there were both files, opened the 2nd (no dot) which is full of settings. Edited the lines, but still not working.

Any idea's?

Ok, hopefully your sorted now supermuzhik, but if not…

As I said in my first post, if you've an empty settings file, check your opening the right one (I browsed to the location to see 2 files)

Mine had al the expected settings, but every time I added the correct IP range it either didn't work or reset itself to a default state when I stopped and restarted the Transmission daemon.

In the end it worked when I..

- updated the file
- rebooted the mybook
- started Transmission

Hope this works for you.
