I'd like to create a RAID mirror on my MyBook world by adding a usb MyBook.
so did anybody already tried this?
have you checked the MybookClone FeaturePack ?
it does that, but breaks the mirror after a successfull backup of system partitions.
More than that, it provides incremental and selective backups of the Data partition via rsync.
System and data Backups can be scheduled… advantage is that if you make a mistake yourself, you can recover if you restore the file before the next backup.
Is featurepack based on optware? Is it open source?
Given that he post on the white light part of the forum, I would assume he has a white light which FeaturePack does not support (yet).
I see, MybookClone is not yet available for MybookWhitelight( i have validated that i can do it for the white light … )
I am currently working at providing a Feature PackManager for White Light Mybook.
The objective is to provide an easy user interface to people who are not LinuxAware and who want to hack their Mybook.
The installation of the Feature PAck Manager will install OPTWARE but feature packs will not be OPTWARE package ( they are too much linked with the Mybook Architecture )
FeaturePacks are simply rar files containing sh scripts. These sh scripts will be run via a generic web user interface ( same technology as the FeaturePack manager in the bluering version.)
Anyone will be able to develop a feature pack and offer it to the community.
The FeaturePack Manager is free and opensource.
I will provide some featurepacks for free and i will provide some feature packs as a benefit to my site members.
If you are interested, i can send you a running beta version. (the feature pack engine itself and installer is already running, i am currently working
in the Version management and thinking how to allow user to update an installed feature pack from the interface. )
I also have a simple system_information featurePack ready.
thanks for the answers..
jup, i have a white light mybook.. so i'll just sit and wait.. :)
one offtopic question; i've noticed that there is an appreciable difference in transfer speeds if i use afp or smb. so is there a way to speed up afp?
