Hi All Gurus,
I am using a MyBook World Edition 500GB which is upgraded to 1TB myself by using all the mod and hacking guides from this tremendous website. It is connected via Linksys router WRTSL54GS with a static IP address of 192.168.1.10
Everything has been working fine so far since 1 year but recently I have noticed that MyBook looses the Ethernet connection during copying files from my PC to it. It is mapped as a Windows local drive in the Windows Explorer.
Its capacity is mainly consumed however it still has around 80GB free. I was trying to copy two movie files ~1GB each via Windows Explorer to it right now when in the middle of the copy procedure , the network link is lost and as a result the copy procedure is in vain.
In addition if a similar thing happening during a windows partition (FAT / NTFS) copying then usually it results in lost cluster which are to be fixed via CHKDSK. But how to tackle this in MyBook running EXT2/EXT3 file system. There is no such utility to check the health of the filesystem and fix any possible corruption to file system/journals . If it is then please guide how to run it on MyBook.
I was wondering why is it happening since it never happened before and I ran huge data copying jobs to/from Mybook earlier without any interruptions, usually it took hours to complete since the maximum network transfer speed it attains on my network is around 4~5 MB/sec.
I have checked all connections / cables and connection details and still at a loss to understand why is it happening.
Any ideas and clues are welcome.
