I have a MyBook World edition configured on my network having a static IP. The firmware version on MyBook World is 01.01.18. It is working fine , since my media collection is increasing I am trying to increase the storage space. I have plugged in Seagate 1TB FreeAgent external USB 2.0 to MyBook's USB port formatted with Ext2 filesystem. It works fine and in the Storage Web Configuration Interface it correctly detected with free space.
Now when I add a share for this external harddisk, I give a share name, select the additional USB harddisk recognized partition, set the share as CiFS (default), and set all permissions for everyone. The share (for the attached USB disk) is now visible under windows explorer, so I map it as a drive letter (for frequent use).
The problem is if I turn off the MyBook World Edition and turn it back on again then all this share configuration for the additional USB storage is all cleared and I have to redo all the share configuration. The disk is detected fine in the main configuration page but all the settings are lost and hence the windows mapped network drive share does not works anymore
I did ask this question earlier as well, but till to date there is no clue.
Now i would appreciate if someone can guide step by step how to do this manually via command line by any startup script (contents, filename and its location), which hopefully would be executed everytime MyBook is powered on and hence if configuration settings are lost from the MyBook web interface, the network share for external USB drive still can be made available.
