I have a MyBook World edition configured on my network having a static IP. The firmware version on MyBook World is 01.01.18. It is working fine , since my media collection is increasing I am trying to increase the storage space. I have plugged in Seagate 1TB FreeAgent external USB 2.0 to MyBook's USB port formatted with Ext2 filesystem. It works fine and in the Storage Web Configuration Interface it correctly detected with free space.
Earlier the share name for this external USB was getting deleted on every reboot of the MyBook, but now this is taken care of.
Now there is even another new problem. If I keep using the external harddisk for files movement then it is perfectly fine and all operations work.
If i dont use the attached USB Harddisk for sometime then it goes to sleep even the its light is turned on. Any other usual USB2.0 external harddisk connected directly to the computer becomes awake when it is accessed and takes a while on the first access to show its file and folders. But when the USB2.0 external harddisk is connected to the USB port of Mybook, it never wakes up and now when i click on the "External Drivers" share on Mybook it never shows any files and folders contained in.
To remedy the problem I have to keep rebooting the Mybook so it can refresh and reinitialize the attached external USB harddisk, which obviously is not the best solution.
Any ideas or guidance how to get rid of this annoying problem would be appreciated.
