I'm following the tutorial on how to install CUPS here:
I have successfully installed CUPS, cups-doc, cups-pdf and cups-driver-gutenprint using the IPKG commands:
[root@nas ~]# /opt/bin/ipkg install cups
[root@nas ~]# /opt/bin/ipkg install cups-pdf
[root@nas ~]# /opt/bin/ipkg install cups-doc
[root@nas ~]# /opt/bin/ipkg install cups-driver-gutenprint
Then the tutorial states that if you try to run CUPS at this point you will get the following error:
/opt/sbin/cupsd: can't resolve symbol '__guard'
which I do get. So then it goes to tell you to recompile the CUPS.
This goes fine until I get to the step that says 'make'. After executing that command, things seem to go wrong. The command ends with this dialogue:
make: * [testadmin] Error 1
make: * [all] Error 1
And just before that is a series of lines that end with "undefined reference to ‘mulsf3’ and "more undefined references to ‘mulsf3’ follow".
I have tried recompiling CUPS several times, always with these errors. I can't continue because the next step is to copy the CUPS config file, and when I try that, the file isn't there. I have tried both with CUPS version 1.3.7 using the URL in the tutorial and with the latest version, 1.3.10, both by entering the correct URL for that version and also by downloading it manually and placing it in the /PUBLIC/Mybook/cups folder. Same error every time.
Given that I'm really, really a newbie when it comes to the MyBookWorld, CUPS and Linux in general, and I don't really know what I'm doing (I'm just entering commands as I'm told, slowly getting my head around how it all works), can someone please try to explain to me what is wrong here and how I can go about fixing it?
