Hi folks,
I finally managed to get my SSD (16GB) working with the latest firmware and all the good stuff that I wanted to run on mybook.
I did update to the latest Samba (what a pain again), SSH, SFTP (and plenty of other things that don't remember right now).
I did also change alot regarding the FeaturePack Website (also the WD website has been tuned). FeaturePack Manager Website now includes a Reboot feature as well as a ShutDown link.
I can even read out all logs by just clicking on a single link. Most of the services are disabled (also the wixalarm, which is of no need anymore since it's a flash drive), what gives me now more than 80MB of free ram.
All in all it is running like a charme (no heat and even faster than before). Of course, it has only 11GB of space left now but that's way enough for what I need it for. If I need more I just plug in an usb drive and I'm fine again.
Anyway, it took me a few days to get it to what it is right now and all I now need is a backup of this 16GB SSD. Problem is, I have no clue where to start with.
I know I have to map the drive to my Ubuntu VM-Ware maschine but that's just all. Do we have a smart guy here that might be able to guide me a little through the steps that I need to perform?
Of course I could buy another 16GB SSD and clone it with Teintureman's clone tool but I had trouble last time to get the clone working. At the end I did a clean install and started right from scratch what took me ages …
