Hi Folks - I am having trouble mapping a network drive in my Windows XP laptop and I am wondering if anybody out there can shed some light on what I am doing wrong.
I've followed all of the installation instructions in the tutorial for openvpn. I can see that OpenVPN is running on my MBWE (blue light).
I've installed the OpenVPN GUI (v 1.0.3) from openvpn.se on Windows XP . When I start the app it successfully connects and establishes a VPN session, named 'mybook' and assigns IP address 192.168.1.6.
So far so good. However, when I want to map a network drive in Windows using either \\192.168.1.6 or \\mybook as a server name, and \OVClient or \public as a share name I get the windows error "The network path \\mybook\ovclient could not be found"
If I try to issue the command shell with the same server name/ share name combinations, ie: net use y: \\192.168.1.6\public
I get "System error 53 has occurred. The network path was not found."
The laptop does not have a firewall enabled. At home my laptop can map to the MBWE public drive without any problems. I would like to do the same from work or other remote locations.
I am attempting these connections from home, work, and external wi-fi networks.
Any ideas? Any suggestions are appreciated
