I want to use NFS on my new MBWE 1TB WhiteLight and I am wondering why it doesn't work out of the box, even if WD provides NFS settings on the web admin pages…
Well, then I found this wonderful MBWE forum and tried the posted NFS installation guide but up to now w/o success :-(
Here are the details of my MBWE:
~ # uname -a
Linux MyBookWorld 2.6.24.4 #1 Tue Feb 10 11:00:22 GMT 2009 armv5tejl unknown
Version 01.00.14 with MioNet 2.3.9.13
built on Wed Mar 4 16:14:46 CST 2009
I recovered NFS from the backup images:
~ # ls -la /sbin/port*

~ # ls -la /usr/sbin/rpc*
-rwx-- 1 root root 3424 Mar 26 2007 /usr/sbin/rpc.lockd

-rwx-- 1 root root 5000 Mar 26 2007 /usr/sbin/rpc.nfsd
-rwx-- 1 root root 14048 Mar 26 2007 /usr/sbin/rpc.rquotad
-rwx-- 1 root root 31876 Mar 26 2007 /usr/sbin/rpc.statd
~ # ls -la /usr/sbin/exportfs
-rwx-- 1 root root 33008 Mar 26 2007 /usr/sbin/exportfs
and I added rpc user and group:
~ # grep rpc /etc/group
rpc:x:1001:
~ # grep rpc /etc/passwd
rpcuser:x:29:29:rpcuser:/var/lib/nfs:/bin/sh
rpc:x:504:1001:RPC Service User:/var/lib/nfs:/sbin/nologin
don't know why their are two rpc users???
Finally I rebooted it:
~ # reboot
[…]
Now when I ssh again as root and execute
~ # /etc/init.d/nfs.sh start
Starting NFS
