Transmission - "No such file or directory" problem

I have installed Transmission on my WD My Book World Edition (white light). I use web interface - http://mybookworld:9091/transmission/web/.
The problem is that when I open a torrent file it appears on the screen. Then Transmission doesn't start any download. There is a message "No such file or directory". In Preferences I entered Download to: \/shares\/Download\/Torrent\/work. It still doesn't help. What's wrong? How can I make Transmission start downloading?

I had the same issue. What I found out, is that when Transmission terminates/closes, it writes a fresh copy of the settings.json file. So, in order to change the download directory, make sure that Transmission is not running at that moment.

I changed the download folder and I create the issue, I think.

What is the correct path to download with transmission??

the solution that worked for me, was changing the rights for the /work folder (mine is /shares/Public/Torrents/work) by setting

chmod go+rw /shares/Public/whateveryourfolderis/work

this command gives (r)ead and (w)rite rights to (g)roup and (o)thers

i am newbie myself so i dont know if this is a safe solution (giving rights to others)
any other recommendations appreciated!
