I have tried the network forum without any luck, now I will try here instead….
The Root access / SSH Access in the advanced configuration tab in the web interface does not activate SSH on my white light edition WD-MBWE
I lost ssh connection to my white light WD-MBWE some time ago (Network Error: connection refused), but have lived without for a couple of weeks, since my other software installations still worked Transmission and similar. However, yesterday I updated the firmware to:
01.00.16 with MioNet 126.96.36.199
built on Tue Mar 17 14:15:17 CST 2009
and subsequently I lost my configuration of Transmission. So I really want to get back into my WD-MBWE, but everything I have tried has been unsuccesful. Ultimately, I have backed-up everything and restored to the Default Configuration via the web interface and now starting from scrath I have tried to reestablish ssh:
1. I ran the start-up configuration
2. I create one user "Martin"
3. I changed the workgroup name
4. I enabled Root access / SSH Access in the advanced configuration tab
A subsequent attempted to connect to the box from Putty resulted in: Network Error: connection refused
5. I rebooted the box and tried to connect from Putty again with the same result…
I have repeated the above procedure and I have checked that that all changes via the web interface are maintained after reboots, but this
I have tried to connect from different computers and from Linux without any luck. Any suggestions to what I can do next?
