I just wanted to post up here that if anyone has a wii, you can use it and this device to make a great media power house! With the combination of the two, you can:

1. Watch Videos that are stored on your WD on your TV Via the Wii
2. Listen to your music files
3. If you use a emulator on the wii that supports a smb network connection, then you can load your games and save directly to your drive and not have to take up space on the wii.

I mean wow, not bad for a lil wii and a nas, heck the colors even match !!!

What all are you doing with your NAS?

well it's cool but you can do the same things on a ps3 if you have one.
But it is still impossible to play cracked games on a PS3 so you have to wait for that.

Yea but a wii is cheaper, and you can hack it with ease.
I love the usb loader myself.

Hi,

I can gt my WII connected to the Mybook (blue rings) and play videos, but the video and sound always freezes after what seems like a random time (sometimes seconds, sometimes minutes) Anybody else had this problem and managed to fix it? Is it likely to be Wii, mybook, or wireless network problems?

What is the bitrate of the videos? I have found that the best seems to be ~900kbs for xvid encoding. Anything higher seems to cause issues on the wii. what are you using on the wii to playback the files?

Hi,

Bitrate is about 700kbs. Video plays fine for a while, but then picture freezes and about 3 seconds later audio also stops. Wii has to be switched off to reset. I'm using MPlayer CE v0.75.

sounds like mplayer is crashing, you can go on their irc channel and get a newer build to test that, also how are you loading the channel. Try checking out the gbatemp or mplayer-ce sites for some more info as it is not really and issue with the WD.

No worries mate, I use mplayer-ce, http://code.google.com/p/mplayer-ce/

I do have a lockup every now and then but not often, last one was about 2 weeks ago. What is the system version of your Wii? I am using 4.2 with mplayer 0.76 and it is working great. Just make sure you have all the needed homebrew apps installed that are needed and you shoulde be fine.

I'm using system 4.2. I can't find mplayer 0.76 - do you mean 0.75?

Not quite sure what other homebrew apps I would need. mplayer seems to work fine if i put vids on sd card, just cant reliably stream over wireless from mybook. Do i need any particular cios?

Im using the beta that is available in their irc chatroom. As far as CIOS just make sure you have everything they list in the faq and you should be fine.
