trying to enable SSH

Summary:

can't seem to make it work

trying to enable SSH

i've tried to enable ssh using both methods listed here
http://IP/auth/firmware_upgrade.pl?fwserver=users6.nofeehost.com/MybookAlternative/MBWE-SSH-ENABLE
and
http://<IP-OF-YOUR-MYBOOK>/auth/firmware_upgrade.pl?fwserver=martin.hinner.info/mybook/firmware.php

both of them failed on something like "failed to download upgrade"
i then restarted the drive, and now, when i even try to run one of the updates all i get is a page with google advertisements (?!?!!?)
did anybody encouter something similar to that ? i'd greatly appreciate any help.

i believe that my /auth/firmware_upgrade.pl was changed by one of those custom firmwares… and i think i am stuck now..
is there any way to revert to the original ?

If you can get access to the admin panel, try to update the firmware first, and then try the ssh hack.

The custom firmware has some problems with it and I don't recommend it for anyone who's not really good with Linux.

even when i try to upgrade firmware from the admin panel all i get is a blank page.
That is after trying one of the enabling ssh methods described above.
