I was thinking of upgrading my firmware for mybook but since I have already downloaded many torrents using transmission , I would like to back them up so after the upgrade restore and continue seeding. Is there really a way to do this? Is that possible by just backing up at /shares/internal , the directory(which is this??) that transmission keeps the torrent files??
Your optware installation will be gone.
You can manually re-install this or backup it
If you are running transmission as root (most do), you should also copy /root/.config to your data partition which the upgrade keeps untouched….
Because that directory is not that big you may consider copying the whole thing…..
cp -pR /root /shares/internal/
The directory can later be restored…
cp -pR /shares/internal/root/.config /root/
So if I backup /opt folder and re-install optware after the upgrade , will everything work fine after coping /opt back to /. Or do I nedd to install all optware programs again? Also I checked the ~/.config/ folder and it seems that transmission keeps all data there ( so backing it up restores everything afterwards I guess) . Thank's for the infos..
