Im running Windows XP on my laptop, i can see all folders on MBWE and can login to all "Public" folders fine, but when i have to put in UN and PWD it will login to some folders, but no all. It says that I cannot login with two users. Anyone have this same problem?
Hi,
This is the WINDOWS RULE that cannot be changed :
Only a single user , from a single computer can connect to a server.
==> you cannot connect to different folders using different users . you can only have a single user to connect to your Mybook.
Creating several users is only usefull if each user has its own computer and connect to the mybook from his own computer.
Nothing to do to change this behaviour.
use a single user
or disconnect all connected drives before you connect using a different user.
Thats the thing, im not loggin in as a different user, it's still the same user.
You'll need to edit the groups and users on the Mybook, so that all the users are members of the www-data group (for blue ring) or the default group for the white light (can't remember the user and group name at the moment).
You may also need to reconfigure Samba so that all the users have read/write permissions, and then restart samba.
What's happening is that each logged in user creates files that the other users can't access. You need to change the permissions on the mybook so that the users are members of a group and that group needs to be able to have read/write access to the files.
I figured it out a few days ago, I accedentlly put myself into a group that gave "No Access" to some folders. After that, it was fine.
