Hello everyone. I have unbricked my WEII, installed Debian Lenny and ssh, smb, etc, etc.
The problem comes when I try to connect the secondary SATA disk, the WEII get bricked again.
The temporal solution I have found is to start whith only the B drive connected and when it boots then hotplug the A drive, and then make a reboot. So I can make a RAID with the 2 SATA disks, etc, but when I turn the power off and plug in the powerd cord again the WEII replays the problem.
Any idea?
Hello Philibuster.
Although I'm afraid I cannot help you with this I was wondering if you could please let me know what procedure you followed to unbrick a WE II. I have found loads of info on the WE I but nothing on the II.
Any kind of direction would be great.
@rickbk : have a look into your manual on the cd, it's explained for the II.
Hi Zium,
I had a look through my manual (properly for the first time…) today and couldn't find anything to help restore The Brick to working order. All I could find was ways to change drives etc. and at the moment when I plug it in I can hear there is something going on but the light just flickers for less than a second and then dies…
Have I maybe got a different manual to you? Would you be able to pot it on the site perhaps? Or have I missed something…
Hello rickbk. I followed http://www.ismprofessional.net/pascucci/documenti/mybook/mybook-hacking-en.html but I changed the originals SATA disks for a 80 Gb SATA disk, just for testing. When I was sure (or not) of the good results with the 80 GB disk then I tried then with the originals SATA disks making the same procedure.
