My MBWE has sat in my workshop unused for quite some time but now revitalised and with many of the hacks already done, thanks to this site. Now I already have circa 11TB on another NAS and want to use the MBWE for local backup as well as a few other things including SNMP, Syslog and DNS. I'm OK with hardware and software hacking having done a number of NSLU devices and other devices before. Anyhow, my question is this……
Given the MBWE I has one SATA port (AIUI from pics), what are the thoughts of adding a SATA hub, power supply and additional drives to the MBWE in an external enclosure. My thoughts are it should be possible, taking care with ensuring that power is common etc. I'd be inclined the remove the guts and bang it all into a rack enclosure. I've not disassembled the MBWE yet until I'm sure and have all the data off it.
I did search this forum but could not find anything similar here or with my other searches elsewhere.
I'm aware of the limitations of the MBWE and I could do this better with another (more modern NAS) or by building a computer but I love the challenge!
Please be kind to a newbie on this forum.
