This site and forum has been incredibly useful for me to get My Book World Edition working as a great media server, torrent downloader, etc.
However, I'm trying to automate some of the torrent stuff, and I need cron to work in order to do that. I've edited the /etc/crontabs/root file like so:
# standard crontab format for busybox cron daemon. # fields may be lists # min hour day month wd command # * * * * * dosomething # save the date every day at midnight 0 0 * * * date +%m%d%H%M%Y.%S > /var/lib/now # sweep for new torrent files */5 * * * * sh /root/torrentscript.sh # refresh ushare */5 * * * * sh /root/ushareupdate.sh # flexget rss thingy */30 * * * * flexget --cron
Each of those commands works on their own (torrentscript, ushareupdate, and flexget). Torrentscript.sh loads up all the torrent files in a given folder into Transmission, and then deletes the torrent files. Ushareupdate.sh refreshes the uShare server. And flexget polls some RSS feeds for new torrent files and downloads them. I've chmod'ed the two shell scripts, all the way to 777 even, just to make sure.
After I made those edits, I restarted cron like so:
killall crond crond start
I also tried
I wait 5 minutes, and nothing happens.
Like I said, these all work fine on their own, but cron doesn't seem to run. I've read a bunch of the forum posts about cron, but nothing seems to help. What am I doing wrong? What should I check?
(I should mention that the "save the date" thing appears to be working fine).
