Please help me with some ideas….It is more than 1 week when my NAS device was powered off and now it seems that it has a problem. Since yesterday I cannot use my device (WD Mybook WE 1TB Network white lights) because it is shutting down very quickly after powering on. It hangs (automatic powering off) in less than 5 minutes after each power on signal.
I have succeed to connect via ssh and to spool out the log files….It seems that a thermal alarm is initiating the automatic shut down:
daemon.alert wixEvent: Thermal Alarm - System temperature exceeded threshold.(56 degrees)
daemon.info init: Starting pid 1772, console /dev/null: '/usr/bin/killall'
syslog.info System log daemon exiting.
It is strange because I never had problems with it until now, the room temperature is aproximately the same and I don't think that the device can become so warming in less than 5 minutes……
It still has waranty and I don't want to disassembly it, also I have some confidential information on it and I don't like the idea to share it with the "warranty provider" !!!
Do you have any idea about how can I disable the thermal protection in order to recover my data?
