I'm not quite sure how to describe this, but every time I turn on my MBWE theres a continual "tapping" coming from it. It sounds like a section of the HD is being re-read over and over (much like when Windows is trying to access a corrupted file).
Obviously this is worrying but I don't understand how I may find what file is being access (if that IS whats happening).
Needless to say that my Linux knowledge is minimal and I'm sure I've tried one of the hacks on this site and messed it up in some way; though I have no idea when or which one.
I know that "clicking" is also a sign of HDD failure, but I still have disc access and everything works as it should except for the odd noise so thats why I thought it might be something else?
I hope someone can help, please speak slow; I'm an idiot…
I've found that something is continually trying to access "/sys/block/sdb/stat" with the response "no such file or directory".
Reading up I think sdb is a second HDD, but my system is a single 500gb HDD. Or does it mean a second partition?
