I am doing a one time copy of 200gb worth of files (movies mostly) to an iomega 1tb drive attached to my MBWE, and it's been running since last night (going on 9 hours now) and is not even 1/2 way. I am using microsofts richcopy, which worked pretty good when I was doing the initial transfer of my files from PC to MBWE.
I was thinking on the way in to work this morning though, that I may have been better off copying directly from the command line that resides in the MBWE itself, and avoiding the network traffic. My questions are:
Because I initiated the copy from a networked pc, how much network traffic is there and how much is it likely slowing down the process?
Can I use the basic cp command from the command line on the MBWE, with available options?
Can I stop the current copy process and somehow use cp (with parameters) to finish the job faster?
