Hi, how can i deactivate the spindown of the HDD, so it is running 24h. Imho it's better for HD life to run around the clock, then often spin up and down?!
A simple solution is to put a little script in the /etc/crontabs/root file that tells the drive to do some check every 5 minutes or so (or smaller interval if you want). This process will ensure that the drive is constantly spun up. If you use the MyCheck hack, then there should be a line item for that process in the /etc/crontabs/root file that you can edit for smaller intervals than the standard setup.
Have you considered using the Smart_Spindown hack? You can set that up so that the spindown only happens if there is XX amount of time of disk inactivity. Set the XX to a number very high, and then the disk will only spindown when you are on extended vacation.
