I signed in to this site because I think this is my last hope of finding an answer :o.
I have a problem that concerns MBWE (model WD7500G032) and a Netgear router (WNDR3700). I have contacted WD as well as Netgear for an answer but they keep directing me to each other, so no help from there.
Two days ago, I have installed a new router to replace my old (also Netgear) router. Now Mionet doesn't recognize the storage device anymore. Keep getting this error message: "The storage device was found on your local network, but it is currently not able to access the Internet."
(I never had this problem with the old Netgear router).
I have tried all the tips the KB on the WD site provided, from appointing a static IP (the router has a static IP as well) to changing the device name, opening ports on the router, signing in and out of Mionet but so far, nothing works.
If I need to use port forwarding on the router in order for the WorldBook to access the Internet, which ports would this be? Does the WorldBook uses specific ports?
I have now opened port 80 using port forwarding but still keep getting that darn message.
Since Windows recognizes the drive in the local network and the PUBLIC drive is available, I am quite convinced I need to change settings on the router in order for the Worldbook to access the internet, but for the life of me, I don't know which settings!
(Unfortunately all the files on the WorldBook are placed outside the Public folder… a mistake I made when I start using the drive. Otherwise, I would have access to my files but now I don't :(
I am lost… I am absolutely not a computer illiterate but I spent 2 whole days trying to get Mionet to recognize the storage device. If I just knew what I need to change on the router, then I think the problem is solved. Can someone put me in the right direction?
Or if there's another way to access the files that are outside the PUBLIC folder without the use of Mionet, please let me know.
