Thanks to OptWare I installed Midnight Commander in my MBWE (white light). However, I'm having some issues. I got to solve some of them, while I still can't solve others.
Problem 1: arrow keys not working: "A", "B", etc. written instead
Go to the menu: F9, "O" (for Options), "K" (for Keyboard). Using TAB, select the first arrow key, then press "Space", then the corresponding arrow key twice. Repeat for all of the other arrow keys. Then hit Save
Problem 2: using colours: by default, if you stard "mc" it is shown in black and white
Run mc with "mc -c". Otherwise, edit /etc/profile and add a line with:
alias mc='mc -c'
In this way, typing mc will start Midnight Commander with colours.
Problem 3: using Ctrl+O to switch panels on/off: it does not work well, when you hit Ctrl+O the black background is shown, but as soon as you hit any key, panels are back
it seems that my problem is that I'm using sh as the default shell, while Ctrl+O is supposed to work just with bash, tcsh and zsh. I don't have tried to install bash, because I don't know if it is worth.
Problem 4: compressed files internal listing: I can't see zip or gzip file contents, while I can see tar file contents
Focusing on ZIP files.
First of all, I installed unzip with "ipkg install unzip" and perl with "ipkg install perl".
Then, I located the files in /opt/share/mc/extfs
I edited uzip so that:
- $app_unzip points to /opt/bin/unzip: I think this is an error in the OptWare package, since the default place for unzip should be in /opt/bin instead of /usr/bin for this distribution…
- I change the first line so that it points to the correct perl interpreter:
#! /opt/bin/perl -w
(same as previous point…)
Now, if I try ./uzip it does work, however zip directory listing doesn't work in mc yet.
I tried to search on Google but I couldn't find any useful hint.
Any help would be appreciated.
