I have a quick question. I've been experimenting with the instructions here to revive a bricked drive. I've gotten pretty good at restoring everything back, except for one thing. Drive Management only shows SAFELY REMOVE USB drive. It doesn't show the RAID options. I think its because the firmware posted here is for a singe drive unit, but inspecting the nasMaster code (btw, I don't know perl), it seems obvious to me the the code is there, I just need to find a way to TELL it to use it. Anyone know how?
The firmware (for the whitelight at least) is the same for single and dual drive boxes. The box tests for the presence of a second internal drive at bootup and disables RAID if it can't find the second drive.
As the second drive is USB you can't do RAID in hardware (you have to load drivers to recognise and get the USB drive running) so I imagine your best bet is to investigate the 'backup' options listed under 'hacks & tutorials'
Backup is not a problem … the RAID is active and I've set up BACULA to sync my PUBLIC directory with my PC at work. Still though, I would like to get the full options out of DriveManagement.pl: the code IS already there to format a replacement drive etc … it just doesn't execute. I can't figure out why.
