My friend took to me a hard disk [750G SATA] that he has in an external (NAS) box connected via LAN… And he had a problem he could not write to it from a SetTopBox, just read. He thought there is a NTFS filesystem and that the linux powered setopbox cannot write to it, so he asked me to format his drive to FAT32 filesystem…
I'am a linux user, so i ran cfdisk and saw there are som linux partitions there, i asked him if he wants them, or i should delet them and add just one… :) You alredy know what happened. He inserted the disk back to MyBook but it didnt boot anymore :)
I tried to recover the original system with this guide here on this wiki… But it doesent boot. I think there is something hidden between the start of the disk and the first partition…
So i ask you… Please could someone send me the binary output of the "something" after the disk start??? I would be very happy.
dd if=/dev/sda of=backup.img bs=1M count=100
This would copy the first 100 MB of the entire disk to backup.img… Also every file on the wiki (disk images, mbr, …) + this can be located on my servers without problem [2x 1gbps international connect].
Thak you very much.
