I have a mybook blue ring, and have added an external drive formatted as ext2.
I intended this to be used as a backup of the data currently on the mybook. Ultimately I will set up a cron job to do this, but for now I just want to copy the data over. This will take quite a while to copy so I am attempting to use nohup so that I can leave it going and shut down my PC.
The command I'm using is:
nohup rsync -av /shares/internal/MYSTUFF/ /shares/external/WD-My-Book-1110/Partition-1/MYSTUFF/ > MYSTUFF.txt &
The problem I have is that when I close my putty session, the copy stops.
Even if I tail the output file, when I Ctrl-C to stop tailing, this also stops the copy job.
I'm no linux expert, so I'm hoping this is something simple.
Thanks for any advice.
