I have a 500GB MyBook World Edition that does not boot.
the disc spins, but the blue LED and the LAN do not light.
how can I "revive"?
Sorry for my English
MyBook is being very unreliable, so I am deciding to get rid of it. I would like to get my data off the drive preferrably through a USB enclosure so that I don't have to deal with the various speed issues I am having trying to get data off. Has anyone done this sucessfully? I am looking for suggestions.
Things I have tried but failed are:
1. Mapping the drives in windows. This fails after copying 1 or 2 big files
2. Installed an FTP server on the drive, the speed progressively deteriorates as move on.
very easy solution…
install drive in an USB enclosure
boot up your PC with Linux (either Ubuntu Live CD or real Ubuntu)
mount the USB drive with Linux
drag and drop files.
