Found this at http://www.boutell.com/gd/faq.html
After running "make install" for the jpeg library, you need to run "make install-lib".
Then configure GD as described above, ie: ./configure —prefix=/usr
And it will now find the jpeg library…
By the way you can test the jpeg library is working with "make test" which will output some jpg files to prove it works.
And you can test the features of GD using the command "gdlib-config —features"
which should return something like:
GD_JPEG GD_FREETYPE GD_PNG GD_GIF GD_GIFANIM GD_OPENPOLYGON
Depending of course on what you have compiled/installed.
