For running web.py scripts I need lighttpd to support mod_rewrite. The version running on the MyBook doesn't have that module included so it needs to be recompiled. The problem is that I don't know if I can safely recompile lighttpd:
- Will it compile at all?
- What compile arguments would it take? lighttpd.conf gives some clues which modules are required, so they should be included I guess.
- Will it break the existing web interface of the MyBook?
- If so, do I loose any funtionality that isn't available otherwise?
- Should I download the MyBook sources from Western Digital (400Mb!) and grab the lighttpd version from there?
I could always use web.py's built-in webserver, but that one is for testing only. I'd much rather use the built-in lighttpd server.
Thanks in advance for any help!
