Power blinked out, the usb attached to mybook went down (so did mybook).
When i went to check the usb drive everything was gone.
The usb was formatted xfs (i don't have any experience with xfs or its tools, i only used it because mybook seems to like it, and for some dumb reason fat32 was default format when i used the web interface; large file support please its 2010).
FS Journal seems just blank and im not getting any filesystem errors - mybook doesn't format corrupted drives does it? cause the damage looks so clean like there never where files there.
the drive wasnt being written or read from (by any user at least) during the outage, and while i guess this is what i get for not having a backup yet, i have never seen everything disappear without a trace like this; also i have never experienced xfs.
i have recovered from reiserfs and ext family drive corruption so many times before, but this is just horrible.
Was about a TB of unique data and im still in shock.
