Just updated my unit with new firmware 01.02.04. Twonky upgraded to 5.1.4-1. Now has samsung tv option for dlna receivers. Have not tested how well it works yet. Have not seen any other changes….no cosmetic changes to interface. Cheers
can you confirm that you updated via the mwbe update facility?, also are you running a 1TB or 2TB unit?

Release 1.01.16 (11/24/09)
Added Windows 7 Digital Media Server compliance
I've upgraded to test with Samsung TV… Twonky will not see .mkv files… I will still continue to use MediaTomb because it's working fine with Samsung TV and mkv files !
So with media tomb your samsung tv will see mkv files natively using dlna? What settings have you tweaked for that?
Yes & No, you need to change few things to be working 100% (I have a Samsung UExxC6700 serie)
For me, I've change in mediatomb/config.xml :
<add header="transferMode.dlna.org: Streaming"/>
<add header="contentFeatures.dlna.org: DLNA.ORG_OP=01;DLNA.ORG_CI=0;DLNA.ORG_FLAGS=017000 00000000000000000000000000"/>
Without this, TV see mkv files but doesn't play it (but play fine pictures / avi files / music).
With this Mediatomb is working fine with my TV model (but as I've understand older Samsung series doesn't need that).
You need to change for full mkv support in <mappings> :
<map from="mkv" to="video/x-mkv"/>
And when you open mkv file, it's working, without it you have 'invalid file'….
With this 2 modifications, all is working from my TV, music (mp3), video (avi/mkv even with DTS), pictures (jpg)…
The only problem I have is since Mediatomb install, the MyBook doesn't sleeping… (I've already seen post here concerning this trouble)
And I've try latest build of Twonky (6.0.1) they don't work fine for mkv on my TV serie.
The only way is to change the http header.
Twonky is aware of that… since many months…. and they don't implement it yet in latest build…
I have been mucking around with Samygo extensions for the TV….was suggested by someone here previously. Connects to the nas via nfs shares and plays everything so far….including mkv files. Think I will only use twonky if using my xbox 360 for streaming :)
Oh my god…..there goes my weekend, new firmware to play with…..I almost feel too tired….almost
I eat syntax like you for breakfast on my way to fight real errors.

Upgraded via web interface using "check for upgrade" option. My Samsung tv will now play music files from twonky (before would get unsupported file format error). Tried a file with .mp4 ext but it locked up tv and hard to pull power. No more time for testing….as mentioned a quick browse through interface does not show any added features….and as no changelog yet available will need to see what has been fixed/enhanced.
How does the new firmware affect optware installs? Are they still there or has the /opt/ folder been removed again? I'd like to know before upgrading.
Well then sod it, I don't need an updated mionet and I don't have a samsung tv that uses dlna. Not gonna reinstall&reconfigure my whole load of optware apps.
My WD whitelight 1TB came with firmware 01.01.18 and I will use it unless they will add some really needed stuff (like tcp wrappers support).
A new update form a Tier 2 technician has confirmed that the firmware is officially been removed from the availability to download due to the various problems which include but not limited to:
1.) Twonky media server crashing
2.) incompatibility with itunes 10
3.) various network related issues in which some drives completely go offline after the upgrade (i.e.., boot cycle, network disconnect, file transfer errors)
