I have configured lighthttp on the MyBook to serve up webpages containing my movies. However when I click on a link to an .avi I have to wait till the entire movie is downloaded before it plays (can take a long time). If I use Windows Explorer and browse using Samba then the file is streamed immediately. Is there any way to get lighthttp to stream in a similar manner, rathar than simple downloading the whole file?
Edna will stream .avi-files. Not sure if it will suit your needs, but have a look. I've installed it on my MBWE, and it works great (except it won't start as a daemon upon booting the MBWE)
In order to start the daemon look for Edna's start script in /etc/init.d
then create a symbolic link to it starting with S# as in:
ln -s /etc/init.d/Ednaserver /etc/init.d/S42Edna
This works because /etc/init.d/rcS executes and runs every script in the folder that starts with S#.
