Hi Hazza96 and all others around,
I have a WDMBWE 2TB white light (one single disk).
I've encountered exactly the same problem : wanting to change the listen port of sshd for 443, I've made a syntax error… :-(
While the disk functioned normally, it were impossible to access ssh (of course : it can't start anymore…)
So I put it off out of his case, and put it on a external Sata case. I started my PC with a rescue Linux CD, and after loading and mounting the pseudo "raid 0" disk sdb3 (the system : in fact /etc/md124 with mdadm) i could change the misspelled line in the sshd-config file…
But now, it's impossible to make the disk boot. I'd wait a moment, thinking it has to do a fsck… but nothing… I've try to reset with the procedure found on this site (40 seconds after powering up)… I even try to reset totally the motherboard, changing the cell… but nothing !
The disk is still readable in my SATA case, but the integrated mother board seems not to recognize it.
I thinks it could be the MBR that was lost during mounting it (even I don't understand why), but I would appreciate some advice…
For information : I have another WD (the same but only with 1TB) and I suppose it's the same MBR, but I'm a little frightened about making another naughty thing on it (my wife would be very upset…;-) all her pictures are on it ! )
Thanks in advance,
