Ampache (http://ampache.org/) "is a web based audio/video streaming application and file manager allowing you to access your music & videos from anywhere, using almost any internet enabled device."
And the best part is that it works great for me on MyBook World edition (white light)!
I'm starting this thread because I have received some private help requests after my initial post on this topic (http://mybookworld.wikidot.com/forum/t-247625/) and for me, it makes more sense to deal with them here, to let everyone interested benefit from the experience of others and to contribute to clarify the installation and configuration instructions.
Let's start with the beginning, i.e. documentation:
Ampache requirements: http://ampache.org/
Ampache installation instructions: http://ampache.org/wiki/install
SSH on MyBook: http://mybookworld.wikidot.com/first-steps-with-mbwe
Optware on MyBook: http://mybookworld.wikidot.com/optware
Webserver on MybooK: http://mybookworld.wikidot.com/web-server
Here what I think are the mandatory install steps:
1. Installing required optware packages: mysql, php, php-mysql, php-iconv
2. Installing and configuring webserver using FeaturePacks manager (see http://mybookworld.wikidot.com/web-server) or directly with lighttpd (optware package, maybe pre-installed)
3. Following installation and configuration instructions in Ampache documentation.
4. Being patient and prepared for some trial and errors!
Hope this helps.
(p.s.: I may try to answer other questions here, but please note the following: 1) Don't set your expectations too high regarding what I can do to help, as I've gone through a lot of trial & errors to get this thing working; in other words, I don't have a clear and strong knowledge of all the required steps; 2) Be patient for replies, as my time - probably like yours - is limited.)
