One of my drives in my "Mybook" finally died, not a big deal for me as mine is setup in mirror mode. Anyone out there know a good retailer, either US based or online, that is having a good deal on western digital green drives?

I found that Newegg.com is selling 1.5 TB Green drives for 79.99 (free shipping), which it twice the size of my drives!!! Anyone else know of a better deal?

As a side note, I am so glad this device still works with only one drive when you remove the broken drive from the raid.

that's the whole purpose of a raid-1 system
but it is good to hear that it works :-)

Good luck that restoring the raid will work. Perhaps you can post if successful or not.

Btw. you have to change both discs if you like to enhance your capacity in the raid. If you have one 750 GB (your existing one) and one 1.5 TB (the new one) disc then your raid-1 size is 750 GB, but I'm sure you know that
But if you buy a 750 GB disc, then you should be sure that this disc is at least the same size as your existing one. And you know the disc manufacturers say 750 GB but you get something near to 750 GB. So 750 GB of one disc model are not the same as 750 GB for another model. Just be aware of that.

Yea, ran into that problem when I first started playing with raids a few years back. I am thinking I will just partition it to match the 750GB I have and leave the rest unused till I get the funds to get another 1.5TB drive.

I am trying to write 0's to the drive and see if I can map out the bad blocks but I don't think it will work. I will definitely post what all I did and steps to get it working.

I have seen a few setups that were not done correctly, it lead to the device not booting correctly as it could not find the device that was removed. I am happy to see that WD actually came through on this one! ;)
