Hello,
I've just recieved back from RMA a WDMBE with firmware 01.01.08
Trying to upgrade from web interface…it says that the unit is allready upgraded :-S
Tried to do it manually and nothing to do…
So i found and tried the ssh way but there is no /usr/www/nbin folder and any getandapplyfw command…
Does anybody have an idea???
thanks a lot…
SOLVED…
thanks to Skywatcher:
If the mybook does not find the new firmware try this
- enable ssh
- then use winSCP to logon to the wd mybook
- go to /etc/ and open 'version'
- change the version into 01.01.16
- run auto-update
Was the solution!!!
Thank you ever so much! Being new to this I didn't expect I could do that LOL.

It really is as easy as it sounds! Google "winSCP" and download it. Once downloaded open it and set the host to the IP address of the drive, put the user name as "root" and the password as "welc0me" and click connect. Then go up a directory and go in to the folder named "etc" and scroll down to the file named "version" , double click it to open it and change the version to "01.01.16". Then just log into the web interface and update the device!
Hope this helps.
