Ok so I've been wanting to move the 1TB hard drive inside my My Book World Edition (white light) into my PC so that can use the spare pc HDD slot and not have to boot the external drive all the time. Usually when it's connected externally I map network drive to the external drive and can access it fine. EG it shows under network drives as \\mybookworld\public\ x:
I took the MBWE apart the other day. Plugged the hard drive into the free drive slot in my PC and booted up. And what do you know it worked! The network drive was still showing. I selected it and I could access the hard drive! I tried accessing some video's, etc and noticed the access speed was a little slow, but it was working, then after about an hour I was unable to access the drive at all.
Anyone got any ideas? I'm sure im not the first guy to move the drive into the PC itself. Is this something to do with Windows having problems reading the EXT3 file system on the drive directly? Can I change the file system without deleting the files. The drive is already full.
