Recently I bought a 2TB WD Mybook World Edition (white light), and I happy with it. I made some modifications, installed Transmission, FeaturePacks Manager and Access Book, and they all work fine. I'm using Plex as a media center, and even with wifi and 720p movies, the playback is flawless!
But for copying and moving files, the browser mode (using the default Copy Manager or AccessBook) isn't particularly friendly and efficient.
Using Finder I have the problem when I want to move folders and/or files inside the MyBook. It starts to copy the files/folders from the MyBook to the mac, and only then it moves or copy to the other folder inside the MyBook (MyBook->Mac->MyBook). And if I attach a HD to the USB port, it happens the same (USB HD on MyBook->Mac->MyBook). Only from the AccessBook or CopyManager I can do the moving and copying without copying things first to my mac (Mybook->MyBook or USB HD->MyBook).
A few days I tried a ftp client - Transmit - and now I can move files directly inside the MyBook, and it's great to get a more efficient file management. But if I want to copy - for example, from the disk attached to the USB port directly to MyBook - I can't do it, because Transmit only supports moving files/folders.
Am I doing anything wrong? Is it possible to use Finder to move and/or copy files inside the MyBook (and between MyBook and an USB HD attached to it) without the files going through the mac? Any other software better than transmit?
Any kind of help would be great!
Finally, many thanks for this site. It has tons of information to power this gadget! :)
