Hi I think I have bricked mybook.
I lost libuClibc-0.9.28.so
now no commands work from CLI
only response I get is:
can't load library 'libc.so.0'
Is there anyway to recover??
where is that file? I can give it to you…
Basically the CLI is not accepting any commands at all.
Anyway tried rebooting the mybook and failed to mount.
So the only way I think is to hook up to my PC and insert the file in.
But now I am having problems getting the PC to detect the SATA. It does not detect in win XP or Knoppix through live cd. I am hoping its the PC's bios settings because I have never installed a SATA drive on this PC.
Is there a procedure to connect the WD hard drive from mybookworld to a PC and have the PC detect it?
yes you have to mount it from terminal window in knoppix… How did you fixed it?
Removed the drive from mybook and connected it to the PC.
Most of my problems to connect to PC were with the fact the drive is SATA I & II. The mobo on my PC accepts only SATA I so I jumpered the set of two pins from the left (pins 5 & 6) to make it SATA I.
Booted with Knoppix 5.1 live cd. PC found all partitions. I unmounted sda1 from GUI. Opened terminal, su to root:
mount /dev/sda1/ -w # with read write access
cd /media/sda1/ #this is the mount point for sda1
and viola. Inserted the file libuClibc-0.9.28.so in the lib folder.
unmounted all partitions and shutdown PC.
Powerd up mybook with drive in it, but got no shares or ssh. Reboot mybook and back to normal again after reboot.
Tried it a couple times.
Noticed that after the drive is disconnected (SATA cable removed) and the front panel with LEDs is removed and connected again, the mybook powers up by itself when DC jack is inserted.
I let it power up and come to a steady state and then shut it down using the power button. On power up (1st reboot) normal blue light flashes and mybook comes back to life.
